Social networking is the lifeblood of today’s students. Outside of school, much of their time is spent using the technology and media they are prevented from using inside of school. However, there are many ways teachers can meld sound educational pedagogy with students’ out-of-school activities. Teachers can, and should, use social networking tools to engage students in their learning. Therefore, this course will explore and introduce strategies and tools to promote collaboration within and beyond classroom walls. Web 2.0 tools will act as the foundation to promote collaboration, teamwork, and learning online. Participants will be exposed to, and evaluate, social networking and other free web-based sites and tools.
